ALOR, — A tragic wave of shock has hit the community of Uruezeani Alor following the brutal death of Miss Chilaka Vivian, a National Diploma (ND) II Nursing student at the College of Nursing Sciences, Alor.
Police have officially detained her landlord, Mr. Ogochukwu Ugoeze, who is currently the prime suspect in what authorities are treating as a violent homicide.
The Incident
According to community accounts, the tragedy occurred a few days ago on Sunday, June 14, 2026. Reports indicate that Miss Vivian had been subjected to repeated, unwanted sexual advances from Mr. Ugoeze, all of which she had consistently rejected.
It is alleged that on Sunday, the landlord confronted the young student at her residence and attempted to force himself on her. When Miss Vivian fiercely resisted, a violent struggle ensued. She was reportedly stabbed multiple times during the altercation, sustaining fatal injuries that led to her death.
A Conflicting Alibi
Following the incident, Mr. Ugoeze reportedly walked into a local police station to report the crime himself. He claimed to investigators that an unknown intruder had jumped over the compound wall and murdered his tenant while he was fast asleep in his own quarters.
However, forensic and preliminary physical evidence quickly began to unravel the landlord’s account.
Key Inconsistencies Uncovered by Investigators
During a preliminary sweep of the environment, detectives noted several critical red flags that directly contradicted the suspect’s timeline:
- Trailing Blood Evidence: While the attack supposedly took place strictly within the tenant’s quarters, forensic teams discovered clear bloodstains extending well beyond her room. Stains were uncovered inside the landlord’s main residence, including his private sitting room.
- The Silent Guard Dog: Neighbors pointed out that the compound is secured by a highly alert guard dog known to bark aggressively at the slightest disturbance. Investigators noted that a violent, life-and-death struggle would have generated significant noise, yet the dog never raised an alarm—strongly suggesting the perpetrator was someone the animal was entirely familiar with.
Case Transferred to State Command
Faced with these glaring contradictions, police took Mr. Ugoeze into custody on the spot for intensive questioning. Due to the severe nature of the crime, the case has since been officially transferred to Anambra State Police Command for a full-scale criminal investigation.
State authorities have issued a statement reassuring the public and the student community that a meticulous, transparent inquiry is underway to ensure justice is fully served for Miss Chilaka Vivian and her grieving family.
