🚨ALUTA CONTINUA! NIGERIAN STUDENTS DRAW THE BATTLE LINE, REJECT FG’S “FRUSTRATING” LEARNER ID NUMBER!🚨

By ABT News Desk | September 10, 2026

ABUJA — The drumbeats of Aluta are sounding loud across the nation! The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has vehemently rejected the Federal Government’s highly controversial National Learner Identification Number (LIN), demanding an immediate and unconditional halt to what they describe as an “unwarranted administrative burden” on millions of innocent students!

In a fiery, no-nonsense statement that has sent shockwaves through the corridors of power, NANS President Akinteye Babatunde Afeez declared that Nigerian students will not be subjected to another round of torturous, duplicated administrative bottlenecks. The apex student body fired back at the government, questioning the logic of forcing a brand-new ID system down their throats when the National Identification Number (NIN) is already the ultimate, recognized national identity protocol.

“Why duplicate what is already there?” the student leadership queried, accusing the government of attempting to subject students to parallel platforms of unnecessary stress instead of simply upgrading the existing NIN registry.

🔥 NOA UNDER FIRE: “STAY IN YOUR LANE!”

The student body did not hold back in its blistering attack on the National Orientation Agency (NOA), which has been visibly championing the LIN. NANS accused the NOA of a shocking “policy overreach,” warning the agency that it has completely derailed from its statutory duties!

According to the furious student leadership, the NOA was created to gather feedback and foster public communication—not to transform into a policy-imposing force outside its mandate. “Step back and return to your primary role!” NANS warned. They made it abundantly clear that policies formulated in the dark, without the inclusion of students as critical stakeholders, are a betrayal of trust and are dead on arrival.

🏛️ THE GOVERNMENT’S DEFENSE: FIGHTING FRAUD OR CHASING SHADOWS?

While the students are up in arms, the Ministry of Education is desperately defending the controversial policy. Minister of Education Tunji Alausa claims the LIN is a masterstroke designed to secure academic records from day one, tackle the ugly monster of certificate fraud, and seamlessly link records with the NYSC mobilization process. The government argues that this is part of a grand digitization strategy, which includes the new Nigerian Education Data Infrastructure and the Nigerian Education Repository Data Bank.

But NANS is not buying it! The student leadership insists that all these lofty goals can easily be achieved by simply maximizing the existing NIN framework.

✊ THE STRUGGLE CONTINUES!

As the standoff intensifies, NANS has vowed to stand its ground, defend the welfare of Nigerian students, and fiercely resist policies it deems redundant and oppressive. Will the Federal Government listen to the voice of the youth and back down, or are we on the brink of a massive nationwide student showdown?

One thing is certain: The students have spoken, and they will not be silenced. Aluta Continua! Victoria Ascerta!
