AWKA – The Anambra State House of Assembly has officially received the first batch of Commissioner nominees from the Executive Governor, Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo, for screening and confirmation.
The list was formally presented during Tuesday’s plenary session by the Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Somtochukwu Nkem Udeze.
Upon receiving the communication from the Governor, Mr. Speaker immediately referred the nominees to the House Committee on Screening and Election Matters for further legislative action. The committee is expected to report back to the House after a thorough vetting process.
The list of 18 nominees comprises technocrats, seasoned professionals, and legal practitioners, including two Senior Advocates of Nigeria (SAN).

Notably, some nominees such as Dr Afam Obidike, Dr Law Mefor, and Mr Patrick Agha were retained from Governor Soludo’s previous cabinet, indicating a strategy that balances policy continuity with new leadership inputs
