BREAKING: Gov Soludo Submits First Batch of Commissioner Nominees to Anambra Assembly (FULL LIST)

AWKA – The Anambra State House of Assembly has officially received the first batch of Commissioner nominees from the Executive Governor, Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo, for screening and confirmation.

The list was formally presented during Tuesday’s plenary session by the Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Somtochukwu Nkem Udeze.

Upon receiving the communication from the Governor, Mr. Speaker immediately referred the nominees to the House Committee on Screening and Election Matters for further legislative action. The committee is expected to report back to the House after a thorough vetting process.

The list of 18 nominees comprises technocrats, seasoned professionals, and legal practitioners, including two Senior Advocates of Nigeria (SAN).

  1. Agriculture — Dr. Ben Chuks Odoemena
  2. Budget and Economic Planning — Mr. Chukwukadibia Okoye, FCCA
  3. Culture, Entertainment and Tourism — Mr. Udoji Amedu
  4. Education — Dr. Ekene Ogugua
  5. Environment — Dr. Clem Aguiyi
  6. Finance — Mr. Izuchukwu M. Okafor
  7. Health — Dr. Afam Obidike
  8. Information and Value Reformation — Dr. Law Mefor
  9. Justice/Attorney-General — Barr. Tobechukwu Nweke, SAN
  10. Lands — Prof. Offornze Amucheazi, SAN
  11. Local Government and Community Affairs — Barr. Vin Ezeaka
  12. Petroleum and Mineral Resources — Prof. Charles Ofoegbu
  13. Physical Planning and Urban Development — Barr. Chijioke Oseloka Ojukwu
  14. Power — Engr. Casmir Chinenye Agummadu
  15. Works and Infrastructure — Arc. Okey Ezeobi
  16. Transport — Hon. Eddy Ibuzo
  17. Women Affairs and Social Development — Mrs. Esther Chinyere Onyekesi
  18. Youth Development and Sports — Mr. Patrick Agha, MBA

Blend of Continuity and Fresh Appointments

Notably, some nominees such as Dr Afam Obidike, Dr Law Mefor, and Mr Patrick Agha were retained from Governor Soludo’s previous cabinet, indicating a strategy that balances policy continuity with new leadership inputs

What This Means for Anambra State

Political observers see the submission of the nominee list as a signal that the Soludo administration is moving swiftly to consolidate governance, particularly in critical areas such as economic planning, infrastructure development, health, education, and youth empowerment.

Once screened and confirmed, the commissioners are expected to drive the administration’s development agenda, which focuses on economic transformation, urban renewal, transparency, and social reforms across the state.

The House Committee on Screening and Election Matters is expected to announce screening dates in the coming days. Successful nominees will be confirmed by the Assembly and subsequently sworn in by the governor.
