ABIA STATE, NIGERIA — Age is nothing but a number, but for 83-year-old Uloma Uchechi Sunday, that number apparently comes with a dangerous double-down on crime!
In a development that has left security operatives and citizens alike completely shell-shocked, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has tracked down and rearrested the octogenarian grandmother for drug trafficking, less than a year after her previous conviction!
According to anti-narcotics operatives, Madam Sunday was cornered right at her residence in the Obingwa Local Government Area of Abia State. In a move straight out of an action thriller, officers discovered that the resilient matriarch had cleverly concealed deadly consignments of methamphetamine and the notorious synthetic cannabinoid known as “Colorado” tightly strapped around her waist!
Investigators note that this isn’t her first rodeo; she was previously busted alongside her daughter. But instead of turning over a new leaf behind bars or in retirement, the aging suspect apparently decided to dive right back into the illicit trade.
South African Visitor Busted With Massive Cannabis Stash!
As if an 83-year-old repeat drug offender wasn’t headline-making enough, the NDLEA’s sweeping nationwide offensive yielded even more blockbuster arrests.
At the Port Harcourt International Airport, vigilant operatives intercepted a South African national, Gebashe Sithandiwe Jessie, who thought she could slip past security with a staggering 32.74 kilograms of cannabis brazenly packed inside two traveling bags!
Plateau Bloodshed Averted: Rifles & Ammunition Recovered in Mega-Sweep!
The dragnet didn’t stop in the East or South. Across the federation, the NDLEA unleashed a multi-state blitz, choking out drug cartels from Lagos to the Plateau:
- The Plateau Arsenal: In a high-stakes raid in Jos, operatives apprehended 45-year-old Christian Chukwudi Uju. Even more alarming than the methamphetamine haul? Officers recovered a terrifying cache of firepower, including two pump-action rifles, a locally made gun, and live ammunition!
- Lagos Mega-Seizure: At the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, a massive cargo shipment originating from Pakistan was intercepted, containing a jaw-dropping 354,000 tapentadol tablets weighing an eye-watering 307.2 kilograms!
- Nationwide Scorched-Earth Operation: From Cross River and Edo to Ondo, Taraba, Kano, and Kaduna states, massive tonnages of dangerous drugs and psychotropic substances were rooted out in a series of aggressive sweeps.
As the agency continues its relentless crackdown on traffickers big and small, one thing is abundantly clear: whether you’re an 83-year-old local grandma or an international courier, the long arm of the law is closing in fast.
