WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has officially terminated its arrangement with Online Integrated Solution (OIS Services), the primary operator of Nigeria’s Visa Application and Submission Centres in the United States.
Effective immediately, all prospective travelers and Nigerian citizens in the U.S. seeking visas or related consular services are directed to bypass third-party processing centers. According to a public notice issued on July 9, 2026, applicants must now submit their requests directly to designated Nigerian diplomatic missions.
Where to Apply Under the New Directive
With OIS Services no longer authorized to process applications on behalf of the NIS in the United States, all visa operations will be handled internally. Pending further directives, applicants are instructed to route their documentation and biometric enrollment through one of the following official channels:
- The Embassy of Nigeria in Washington, D.C.
- The Consulate General of Nigeria in New York, NY
- The Consulate General of Nigeria in Atlanta, GA
Notice to Applicants: The NIS advises that anyone with pending appointments or incomplete processing through OIS Services should immediately contact the nearest Nigerian consulate or the Embassy in Washington to confirm their application status and prevent travel disruptions.
Background on the Partnership
OIS Services previously operated as the official partner for the NIS, managing administrative intakes, document verification, and biometric data capture for travelers applying for Nigerian visas and passports across several U.S. locations. The firm was originally contracted to streamline immigration procedures and alleviate physical foot traffic at diplomatic missions.
While the exact operational reasons for the abrupt termination were not detailed in the July 9 notice, the shift brings all visa processing directly under the jurisdiction and oversight of Nigerian sovereign missions.
What Travelers Need to Know Today
For those currently planning travel to Nigeria, the core application requirements remain intact, but the final submission process has fundamentally changed:
- Online Initiation: All visa applications must still be started, processed, and paid for online through the official NIS e-Visa portal.
- In-Person Biometrics: The physical submission of documents and biometric enrollment must now occur exclusively at the Embassy or the Consulates in New York or Atlanta.
- Authorized Payments Only: The NIS strictly warns against remitting any visa or processing fees to unauthorized third-party platforms or individuals during this transition. Payments should only be made through the approved government channels.
This is a developing story. ABT NEWS will continue to monitor the transition and provide updates as the Nigeria Immigration Service releases further logistical guidance.
