“NATURE CAN NEVER BE CHEATED”: ANAMBRA BILLIONAIRE IKB IGBOANUGO SPARKS EXPLOSIVE DEBATE ON CATHOLIC CHURCH’s PRIESTLY CELIBACY!

AWKA, NIGERIA — A viral photo showing a Catholic priest casting an undeniable, admiring glance at a curvaceous Reverend Sister walking past him has set social media ablaze, igniting a fierce debate over one of the Catholic Church’s most sacred traditions: priestly celibacy.

Renowned Anambra billionaire businessman, IKB Igboanugo, has thrown himself into the center of the storm, openly challenging the Holy See and declaring that mandatory celibacy is an unnatural construct that directly contradicts human nature, African cultural identity, and the divine ordinance of God.

In an explosive Facebook post published on Tuesday, October 20, 2026, Igboanugo didn’t hold back as he dissected the viral picture.

“I am a staunch Catholic and against Celibacy,” Igboanugo boldly declared. “Nature can never be cheated.”

A Viral Glance That Exposed a Deep Reality

The captivating photograph, featuring a smartly dressed cleric clutching a Holy Bible while staring intently at a voluptuous nun, has become an instant symbol of the unseen psychological and biological struggles within the clergy.

Addressing the core of the controversy, Igboanugo pointed out that many priests struggle silently or succumb to natural desires in secret.

“Some of the Rev fathers breach Celibacy and have children,” Igboanugo revealed, insisting that forced abstinence fails to account for human biology. “In America there is Orthodox Catholic Church they are allowed to marry, but Roman Catholic in Rome practices Celibacy which is against nature.”

Igboanugo further questioned the Church’s expectation for ordinary human priests to emulate Jesus Christ’s unmarried status, stressing that Jesus holds a divine, unique position that mortal men cannot realistically replicate without facing immense internal conflict.

Poles Apart with African Culture: “A Childless Man is a Waste”

The debate sparked by Igboanugo resonates deeply across the African continent, where celibacy stands at complete odds with cultural values.

In traditional African philosophy and particularly within Igbo culture, lineage, family continuation, and procreation are sacred obligations. A man’s legacy is inextricably tied to his offspring, giving rise to famous theological explorations like Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Obuna’s landmark treatise, “African Priests and Celibacy in a Culture where a man without a child is a waste.”

Across African societies, sexual abstinence is viewed not as a supreme spiritual virtue, but as a denial of the fundamental order of life. For centuries, African traditions have held that human beings are meant to mate, propagate, and honor ancestors through childbearing. By requiring priests to remain perpetually single, the Western-imposed dogma of mandatory celibacy isolates African clerics from their cultural roots, placing them under unbearable biological and social strain.

Defying Divine Order: “Be Fruitful and Multiply”

Beyond cultural traditions, critics and theologians emphasize that mandatory priestly celibacy directly violates the primary Divine Commandment recorded in scripture:

“Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth.” — Genesis 1:28

From the dawn of creation, the divine mandate to go forth and procreate was bestowed upon humanity as a holy duty. Scholars note that mandatory celibacy was not established by Jesus Christ nor practiced by the earliest apostles—many of whom, including St. Peter, were married men. Instead, celibacy was codified centuries later as an administrative rule and Church discipline rather than an unchangeable dogma.

By attempting to suppress the innate God-given drive for companionship and procreation, the institutional requirement forces men into a battle against the very biology God created. As Apostle Paul cautioned in 1 Corinthians 7:9: “It is better to marry than to burn with passion.”

Will Rome Ever Listen?

Igboanugo’s passionate intervention has struck a chord with millions across Africa and the globe who are calling for sweeping reforms in Rome. As more schismatic and breakaway Catholic movements emerge across Africa allowing clergy to marry, the question remains: How long can the Vatican ignore human nature?

As Igboanugo aptly summarized: “Nature can never be cheated.”

I think strongly that celibate life is a choice. Roman Catholic priests and religious nuns have a choice to serve God while remaining married, but they deliberately chose the “Roman Catholic sect” where they are not allowed to marry. In Matthew 19:10-12, Jesus clearly stated that celibate life can avail a great opportunity to serve God but it’s for those who accept and choose to do so. So I don’t think Rome/The Vatican is culprit here. They simply instituted their ordinances as they thought best and allow mature people to make mature choices…so it’s up to the individual priests and nuns to clearly look before leaping… Pastor Roy Ewelike.
