BUSTED! Rogue Cops Pick the WRONG Target: Attempt to Extort Nigeria’s Top ANTI-CORRUPTION Boss in Shocking Highway Shakedown!

In what has to be the most humiliating and ironic blunder in recent policing history, four rogue Nigerian traffic officers are currently in the hot seat after setting up an illegal, money-grabbing checkpoint in the capital city of Abuja. Their fatal mistake? They tried to shake down the head of the country’s leading anti-corruption agency!

In a staggering display of audacity, the accused officers flagged down Musa Aliyu, the formidable chief of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), and attempted to extort him right on a busy Abuja road this past Saturday.

The Brazen Shakedown

According to Aliyu’s explosive interview with BBC Hausa, the encounter was nothing short of a mafia-style shakedown.

“When I stopped, a policeman came to my car door. I wound down the window, and he told me to open my car, so I did,” Aliyu recounted.

The officer actually got inside the car, demanded Aliyu’s driver’s license, and threatened to haul him to court for bogus traffic violations. When the fearless anti-corruption boss called his bluff and agreed to go to court, the corrupt cop immediately changed his tune, looking for a payday.

“You are a big man; you wouldn’t want your time to be wasted,” the officer reportedly told the ICPC boss. “But even if we go to court, you will be fined 52,000 naira.”

When Aliyu asked for a bank account number to transfer the funds—a clever trap the officer narrowly dodged—the cop refused. Instead, the officers essentially forced the head of the anti-corruption agency to drive to a cash machine and withdraw a 53,000 naira (£45, $38) bribe in cold, hard cash!

The Ultimate Payback

Little did the greedy officers know, they had just extorted the one man with the ultimate power to bring them down. Aliyu immediately reported the shocking incident, triggering what Police Commissioner Ahmed Sanusi called a massive “intelligence-driven operation.”

The result? The alleged ringleader and his three accomplices were swiftly hunted down, arrested, and slapped with internal disciplinary procedures that could see them stripped of their uniforms and unceremoniously sacked!

“Policeman or a Thief!”

The sheer embarrassment of the incident has sent shockwaves through the police force. Commissioner Sanusi did not mince words when addressing the rogue officers who abandoned their actual official posts to set up the unsanctioned extortion roadblock.

“You have to choose: either a policeman or a thief. You cannot be both,” Sanusi fired back in a harsh condemnation of the officers’ conduct. “If you fail to choose, your actions will determine where you belong.”

While it is rare for these types of extortion cases to end up in an actual courtroom, the top brass is making it crystal clear: the abuse of power will no longer be tolerated. These four officers thought they were making a quick buck, but instead, they’ve bought themselves a one-way ticket to unemployment!
