OBOSI, ANAMBRA STATE — In a major victory against the wave of criminality in Anambra State, the Chief Medical Director (CMD) of Crown Hospital Nkpor, Dr. Sir Edwin Emegoakor, has been successfully rescued from his abductors by courageous police tactical operatives (commonly known as SARS) in the early hours of this Sunday morning.
The rescue operation comes just days after the renowned medical practitioner was brazenly abducted by heavily armed gunmen disguised in military and police uniforms right inside his hospital premises on Thursday evening.
According to verified reports obtained by ABT NEWS, the tactical strike force, acting on credible intelligence, stormed a discreet kidnappers’ den located at Obosi junction. To the shock of many, the hideout was not an abandoned structure, but a highly sophisticated and well-furnished duplex, fully equipped with active CCTV cameras used by the criminal syndicate to monitor their surroundings.
During the fierce early morning raid, Dr. Emegoakor was rescued alive and unhurt. In addition to the respected physician, the operatives successfully liberated three to four other unidentified victims who had been held hostage in the same facility.
The owner of the duplex, who was allegedly using his luxury property to harbor the dreaded kidnapping syndicate, was immediately apprehended by the security operatives and is currently in custody providing useful information.
In strict accordance with the Anambra State Government’s zero-tolerance policy and anti-kidnapping laws, which mandate the immediate destruction of any property used to facilitate kidnapping activities, the luxurious duplex was subsequently set ablaze and completely destroyed.
A Flashback to the Abduction Recall that ABT NEWS had earlier reported the chilling abduction of Dr. Emegoakor on Thursday at around 6:30 PM. The assailants, driving a black-tinted Lexus 350 SUV, bypassed hospital security by casually parking within the premises before two men—one in Army camouflage and the other in a police uniform—whisked the CMD away while he was on a ward round, confiscating the mobile phones of staff to prevent immediate distress calls.
The swift and decisive action of the security forces this Sunday morning has sparked widespread jubilation among medical practitioners, staff of Crown Hospital, and residents of Idemili North Local Government Area, who had been praying fervently for his safe return.
The Anambra State Police Command is expected to release a comprehensive official statement regarding the identities of the other rescued victims and the arrested landlord in the coming hours.
