WONDERS SHALL NEVER END! – EFCC Arraigns Abuja Hotel CEO for Allegedly Spending N15m Mistakenly Sent to His Bank Account

ABUJA — The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arraigned Aminu Datti Ahmed, the Chief Executive Officer of Blackrock Apartments & Suites Limited, before a Federal Capital Territory High Court in Jabi over the alleged diversion of N15 million that was mistakenly credited to his bank account.

According to a statement issued by the anti-graft agency, the N15 million was mistakenly transferred to Ahmed’s Taj Bank account during a property acquisition transaction. The funds were originally intended for Braverock Investment Limited.

The EFCC alleges that upon realizing the error, the hotel CEO failed to refund the money and instead dishonestly converted the N15 million for his personal use. Ahmed was brought before Justice Muhammad Idris to face a one-count charge bordering on the dishonest conversion of funds, which contravenes Sections 308 and 309 of the Penal Code Law of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004.

When the charge was read in court, Ahmed pleaded not guilty to the allegations.

Following his plea, the EFCC prosecuting counsel, N.M. Tertsua, requested a trial date and asked the court to remand the defendant in a correctional facility pending the commencement of the trial. In response, the defense counsel, Isyaku Musa, moved a bail application for his client.

With no opposition to the bail application from the prosecution, Justice Idris granted Ahmed bail in the sum of N10 million, requiring two sureties. The judge stipulated that one of the sureties must be a businessman holding a valid business certificate and must swear to an affidavit of means.

Justice Idris has adjourned the case to October 21, 2026, for the commencement of the trial.
